BTIS-Sub Distributed Informatics Centre

About Centre

Being leading institute of Biotechnology in Rajasthan, Birla Institute of Scientific Research (BISR) also recognized the importance of Bioinformatics Research and laid the foundation of Bioinformatics Center in 1998. In view of Bioinformatics Research in India, Department of Biotechnology, Govt of India has also constructed a huge Bioinformatics Network, known as BTISnet, in the country by connecting all leading research institutes and universities under common umbrella. The interface has been created by opening Distributed and Sub-Distributed Information Centre which are centrally funded by Department of Biotechnology (DBT). BISR is also a part of that BTISnet Network and has owned Sub-Distributed Information Centre established in 1999. Since from its inception, Bioinformatics Center has been operating successfully and continuously providing bioinformatics support to the research community of the region.

Recently BISR has initiated research in the area of Proteomics, Genomics and Structural Bioinformatics. Besides, efforts are being made to develop various quality information resources in the form of databases and software for professionals in the area of biotechnology and Bioinformatics.
